Learn How To Hunt
Breaking Down The Barrier
Concerns about climate change and food safety have led a lot of people to turn away from industrial farming and the production of grains and vegetables, in favor of the local “Farm to Table” experience. Having adopted a more local approach to shopping or having begun gardening for themselves, still more people are contemplating a respectful and holistic way to include animal protein in their diet. A desire to obtain meat in a way that aligns with their integrity often leads individuals to consider hunting.
However, while many people are interested in hunting, they don’t know where to start. Our aim is to be the starting place. The place where new hunters learn how to safely handle and shoot a firearm. Where they learn about hunting safety, ethics, and conservation. Where they learn about the habitat and behaviors of mountain grouse and whitetail deer. Where they learn the challenges of getting a safe and ethical opportunity to shoot an animal and where they wrestle with the gravity of taking the life of an animal. Where their guide understands the intense and complex mix of sorrow, elation, and gratitude associated with killing. Hunting can seem like an overwhelming activity for most people who have not grown up around it, but our goal at Yaak River Outfitters is to provide a memorable experience that provides a new perspective on hunting and where we fit in the natural world.
